Pumpkin spice and everything nice – including a seasonal glow. Fall, the season when natural tans start to fade away and there’s a chill in the air. Just because the sun may not be shining as bright as it was in the summer doesn’t mean you can’t have a tan! Fall is the season to tone down your glow so that it still looks natural. Follow these tips for a flawless fall self-tanning glow.
Skin Preparation is Important
If your skin isn’t ready for a self-tan, then it simply won’t work like it should. Your skin should be clean, shaved, exfoliated, and moisturized prior to applying a self-tanner. Read more on how to prep your skin for long-lasting sunless tanning.
Keep it Light for the Fall
It is fun to go as dark as you want in the summer and get that awesome sunless tanning glow. Maybe you re-do your sunless tan every few days in the summer. Ease up for the fall and keep your glow tone light. Try to add a couple more days between your glow up sessions. Let your tan fade a bit more so that when you re-apply, it isn’t as dark and has a more natural glow to it. A little color goes a long way in the fall, and especially the winter.
Pay Close Attention to Your Face Color
The fall means jeans and flannel! Which means your arms and legs aren’t going to be showing as much and your face is seen the most. It is best to use a sunless tanning product that is specifically made for use on the face so it doesn’t clog pores. Use Solrae’s Tanning Water Face Mist for the fall to get a natural looking, gradual tan. If you already have a base tan, this will allow you to keep that shade going. If you are pale, it will allow you to gradually build the glow you want. And don’t forget your neck and chest areas. Solrae’s Tanning Gel for Face and Body also delivers a natural-looking buildable radiance but is light enough for both the face and body.
Moisturizer is Key
As fall approaches, our skin starts to dry out. To keep your tan looking natural and healthy, apply moisturizer daily. Not only will this help with the color of your tan, but it will keep your skin soft and smooth. Dry areas of the skin will potentially end up a different shade when doing your sunless glow. Add self tanning drops to your favorite moisturizer to make your own custom-made self-tan in the fall if you aren’t looking to go really dark.
Do a Patch Test
At one time or another, you, or someone you know has been traumatized with an orange spray tan glow (think back to the 90s-early 2000s). If you are not sure how dark you want to go, or if the product you are choosing is the perfect match, do a patch test. Above the knee is a good place to give it a go. Make sure the space is big enough for you to see the color change. If you are looking for an instant change, Solrae’s Instant Airbrush Self Tanner will give you a streakless, well-blended buildable color in minutes. If you want something that is more gradual, Solrae’s Self-Tanning Mousse gives you a tan overnight!
