Self-tanners are a great way to achieve and maintain a healthy glow all year round - in the comfort of your home. But I’m always asked if Solrae self-tanning products are worth the time and money. When speaking about self tanning products, typically the first concerns of potential tanners are the price, time (effort) it takes to tan (and upkeep), is it safe and will I look fake? Let’s put some of these concerns to rest!
The Price of a Tan
There are many ways you could evaluate the price of a tan. Is it in actual monetary value or is it in a health-conscious value? Purchasing your own self-tanner to do at home will save you money in the long run because:
- You don’t have to purchase a tanning package for a specific length of time.
- You can decide how much you want to spend, whether it be a little less for a gradual tanning lotion or a little more for our Instant Airbrush Tanner.
- Buying self-tanner won’t break the bank! It lasts a long time on your skin if you prep and maintain correctly.
- You can purchase it on an as-needed basis.
I Know UV is Harmful, But What About Sunless-Tanning?
Self-tanning is the route to go when caring about your skin health. Researchers estimate that indoor tanning may cause upwards of 400,000 cases of skin cancer in the U.S. each year.[1],[2] About 90 percent of nonmelanoma skin cancers are associated with exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.[3] Is it worth the price of your health to tan in an unsafe and unhealthy way? Absolutely not!
It is Solrae’s commitment to provide you a safe way to achieve a sunless tan. All of our products are:
- Made of naturally derived organic ingredients
- Paraben-free and Erythrulose free
- Chemical-free
- Certified vegan and cruelty free by the PETA Foundation
Years ago my husband was told he had skin cancer. After a second diagnosis we decided it was time to make a change and get smarter about our sun exposure – no more tanning beds. I got spray tanned and tried a few self-tanners; none of them made me feel good. Worst of all, it looked fake. Which lead me to creating Solrae!
I Don’t Want to Look Fake
No one wants a fake looking orange tan. I didn’t and that is why I created my awesome self-tanning products! Obtaining a natural looking glow is always the goal. I promise with a little practice and time, you will have the safe, natural sunless glow you deserve. And bonus, you won’t smell like a tanning bed! Follow the instructions on each bottle, and you will be a bronzed beauty in no time! Timing Your Tan
Generally speaking, for the best possible tan, you should take a hot shower and exfoliate your skin. Once you have completed those steps, and are completely dry, you are ready to apply. The actual application of the product takes mere minutes. Once you apply the product, you should wait 5-10 minutes before putting your clothes on. Wait as a long as possible before showering (at least 6 hours) to allow your tan to develop.
If you are in a hurry, you can skip the prep steps, but you are going to have longer lasting results if you are able to exfoliate your skin. One part that is a must, is to remove any face makeup, which is the only way to ensure you will tan your face.
How long your tan lasts and ongoing upkeep is up to you! Everyone is a different build, so it is hard to say how many tans are in a bottle. Most people will get about 5-8 full body tans! If you use more than two layers each time, then of course the number of tans will decrease. If you use it sparingly and not on your whole body, the sunless-tanning solution will last you a long time!
You are also going to save time in the long run using sunless-tanning products. No more using a tanning bed for hours upon hours. What a waste of time! Now you can have an instant or gradual tanning result, whenever you choose!
Sunless-Tanning is Worth It
Solrae Sunless-Tanning products are worth your time, money and health! Your skin can be as light or as dark as you want, you get to choose. You’ll be waving goodbye to pale skin and smiling at your fresh, beautifully bronzed skin.
